Lesson Plan:
Materials Evaluation Objectives: Students will:
1A. Teachers
demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of
concepts related to technology.
3A. Teachers facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards. 3B. Teachers use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students. 4B. Teachers use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning. Materials:
If selection of student volunteers is not complete, place the numbers “1” and “2” on the board. The first two students arriving in the classroom who wish to present to the class for extra credit may place their names in either of these two spots. The first arrival gets first selection. Assign three students to assist with the lesson presentation process.
Sponge Activity: Collecting Data for Teacher Improvement (5 minutes) As students enter the room, have them go to an online course evaluation prepared using Zoomerang. Have them complete the online survey. Opening (5 minutes)
Ask students:
Video record two
students
as they describe their Lesson
Plan I lessons and demonstrate their PowerPoint
lesson slides to the class. As a class,
critically evaluate their slides using the elements on the slideshow peer evaluation
form and discuss specific elements of the lesson as a class,
identifying areas of strength and areas needing improvement. Also,
allow the audience to ask questions of the presenter relating to
techniques used in the development of the slideshow and provide time
for the developer to demonstrate these skills.
Guided Practice: Using Data to Improve Instruction (10 minutes) Place
the results of the mid-course evaluation on the classroom screen
and ask students to independently analyze the results based on
full class feedback (not their own responses).
Once students complete their independent observations, call them together and ask what recommendations they have to improve this class based on the data. Use this opportunity to display proper etiquette for accepting professional criticism. Explain to students that accepting feedback and working to improve teaching as a result are expected professional behaviors within schools. Also, review the following NETS-T standard: "4B. Teachers use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning." Demonstrate: Drawing Tools (10 minutes) — see graphics videos (PowerPoint/Word) Review drawing and
painting skills by answering students questions or providing individual
assistance to students.
Closing (5 minutes)
