The green text is my helpfull hints for this project. I think that they are really important and should be looked at before starting the project.
For you to be able to do this project you are going to go through the following steps:
1 Pick a partner (Only one, monogamy is a must with this project). Make sure that they will understand that they have to have a finished project, and only a few days to get it done. Make sure that they are working with someone who they will not spend the whole time talking to about things other than this WebQuest.
2 Come see the teacher so they can tell you if you are having a boy, girl, or even twins!! You can do this in many ways. A deck of cards is a good one, if they get red-a girl, black-a boy, and the joker card for twins). Dice, odds-girl, evens-boy, if they roll a two-twins. Pick from a hat, easy enough. Etc.. Make sure if they get the "twins" card that they double everything they need to buy.
3 Download the table labeled "What you need to buy for your baby". Print this page, and save it to your disk. Discuss with your partner what you want to do for a "theme" for your babies room. You could chose a color, cartoon character, animal, graphic, really anything you want (Just make sure that you confirm with each other before picking something). Make sure that they save it somewhere. If your computers are set up to a mainframe, or network, and they can save their work there and not to disk. Also make sure they make a print copy if something happens to the computer.
4
Using the following web sites, type in everything it asks for on your table,
Do Not Leave Anything Out! To better conserve time you should split
the table in half, but confirm with each other on major purchases (like
the crib and car seat). Make print outs of what you think your major
purchases are, and use them in your presentation to the class later. Tell
the students if they use the Google search that if they find a good site
to tell the whole class. I find great sites all the time, but I limited
this site to the best eight for this project. If they can not find
things like cotton balls and petroleum jelly, have them look at drug store
web sites like: Rite Aid, or Walgreens. They can also find diapers
there too.

5 When you have the whole table filled in, add up the "Total" column and see how much you spent for your new baby. Let them spend, spend, spend! Part of the project is to let them know that babies are expensive. When they total up their page and it is over 2,000 dollars it is a real eye opener when you ask them "How would you pay for that?"
6
Make a short presentation, showing the class what you chose as your theme,
and what you purchased for your bundle of joy. Make a poster using
your printouts so we can visualize what you are going to do for your baby
theme. Tell us how you might save some money, give at least THREE
examples on how you could conserve your spending, show us your findings!
If
they say that they would save money by using "their crib", or "their car
seat" from when they were little, you will have to remind them that they
probably do not fit into today's safety standards. They usually say
anything past 1991 is out of date. A good web site for you/them to
check out is Safekids.Org.
What they find at a garage sale or receive from a friend or family member
should be check over very carefully before using also. Wood can splinter,
plastic can get cracks and break, they really need to know that free is
not always the best.
If they
have access to power point that would also make a neat presentation for
the class to view.
